Lake Desire Area Residents:

  • Lake Desire Attempted Break In Today – This morning at 6:30am two men in their early 20’s attempted to break into a home located at 18008 E Lk Desire Dr SE.  The Caucasian men had shaved heads, long T-shirts and long shorts on.  They tapped on the back door where there was a dog door.  The owner woke up and asked what they wanted.  They said they were looking for the ‘house for sale’.  She told them the house was not for sale and to get off the property.  She called the police and shortly thereafter they were captured.  The sheriff came back awhile later and told her the men had box cutters and plastic gloves in their pockets, and other items for breaking into a home.  The police found out they were driving a rental car and casing the home in advance.  Please be on the lookout just in case they are part of a ring of thieves.  Fortunately, these men should be off the street for awhile.  Submitted by Nancy Gonzales, nancee77@yahoo.com.
  • Large Doberman Attacks Cyclist Yesterday - To anyone who bikes or hikes around Lake Desire or Echo Mountain - Yesterday afternoon, my husband was biking on the main road on Lake Desire.  A large doberman - larger than average - came charging down a winding driveway unleashed.  He jumped up and grabbed my husband on the thigh - while he was biking.  My husband jumped off his bike, stopped and stared the dog down while yelling at someone to come and get their dog.  The dog continued to attack, charging at him and trying to bite his ankles.  The dog finally started walking away when my husband got back on his bike and rode home.  He has a 1 1/2" bit mark on his upper thigh.  Other people by the boat dock on the lake also said the dog charged at them as well while they were walking to the lake.  My husband is 6'0 tall and 180 pounds.  I can't imagine what this dog could have done to a child.  Animal Control has been called.  The officer stated that if the dog does this to you, do not run.  The dog will continue to chase and attack.  Please be careful walking around the lake or the trails in back of Woodside as this dog is extremely vicious.  Submitted by Kim DesMarais kimmie_lew@yahoo.com.
